Most international registries will close for at least part of year-end and early January. In fact, some registries will be closed from mid-December through the first week of January! This makes year-end corporate document retrieval and international lien searches a particular challenge. We encourage our clients to place orders as soon as possible and advise us of strict deadlines so that we can plan accordingly. Below please find some guidelines for common jurisdictions and please do not hesitate to reach out with specific questions: email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please note that our offices will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (Monday, December 24th and Tuesday, December 25th) as well as New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day (Monday, December 31st and Tuesday, January 1st). Our London office will also be closed for the Boxing Day bank holiday (Wednesday, December 26th).
United States: All state registries are closed 25 December, 1 January and 15 January (Martin Luther King Day). Many registries will be closed on 24 or 26 December or operate limited hours around these dates.
United Kingdom: 25 December, 26 December and 1 January are all bank holidays. Companies House has not yet released their holiday schedule but office hours on the dates around the bank holidays will likely be shortened.
Spain: Commercial registry document retrievals in Madrid and Barcelona are unaffected; litigation reports and property searches in Madrid are unaffected. Check with your IBCF representative for other search availabilities. 25 December and 1 and 6 January are holidays when the registries are generally closed.
Hong Kong: 25 December, 26 December and 1 January are Hong Kong public Holidays.
Mexico: The Mexico City registry has the longest closures from mid-December through the first week of January. Other registries vary. Lien (RUG) searches are unaffected; database lien, litigation and public record/official notice searches are unaffected.
China: 25 December and 1-2 January are holidays when the registries are generally closed. In addition 5-19 Feb is the Chinese New Year holiday in 2019 and all offices are generally closed.
Australia: The ASIC registry will be closed from 25 December to 2 January 2019. The only other Public Holiday in January is Friday 26 January 2019 which is Australia Day.
Brazil: For São Paulo document retrieval is unaffected, but other registries will be because payment is made in person. Commercial credit reports, and searches at the Register of Titles and Deeds are unaffected.
India: On 25 December, 1 January and 26 January 2019 there are national holidays in India and all offices are closed.
Netherlands: 25 December, 26 December and 1 January 2019 are national holidays in the Netherlands. All public offices will be closed.
France: Offices are normally closed from 24 December onwards until 2 January. Some administrations work between 26-30 December. The registry will be closed 24 and 25 December as well as 1 and 2 January.
Argentina: In theory, the commercial registry is closed Dec 24 – Dec 26; in practice, because our correspondent is required in order to obtain an extract, many Latin Americans go on holiday for the entire month of December. NOSIS company searches and general commercial information from tax authorities, (AFIP) etc. are unaffected.
Ecuador: Tax searches are unaffected
Costa Rica: Commercial registry document retrievals, and most lien searches are unaffected.
